Music and Science are often thought to be the two sides of the same medal. You won't be able to see both of them simultaneously. Because of that some are in search of good audio reproduction trusting their emotions only, and some others trusting their CPU's as well. Sic et simpliciter. But looking very deeply "through" the scientific side of the coin your mind breaks the apparent dichotomy of sight cues. Over there Music and Science belong to any coin no more.

Serendipity
Only a few concepts are necessary to understand the rationale behind the Serendipity design. We tried to give the listener a better illusion of being there in three steps:

1. Pulling out existing ambience information from standard recordings;

2. Presenting them to the ears in a different manner never tried before;

3. Reducing to the minimum the influence of listening room boundaries.

It seems compulsory to disperse the information over a wider area to let our brain localize the resulting multi-direction distribution of the ambience signals. This in-turn leads to the smearing of the direct sound compromising the front sound stage. Academy Serendipity is based on the assumption that a vertical array of sources with different frequency bandwidth, different gain and different group delay can act as a Distributed Source, generating at the listener’s ears some Cross-Talk signals useful to enlarge the side perspective while keeping the correct Localization Cues. To achieve this the Academy Serendipity design manages the frequency distribution of acoustic energy from Floor & Ceiling, the first reflections, by means of the proprietary WMT TM Alignment configuration and the geometry of the Vertical Reversed Driver Array.

Cabinet Solid walnut or cherry and HDF. The structure is made up of cabinets: the lower, containing two woofers and the upper, containing two woofers, one midrange and one tweeter. The two wooden structures are separated by means of four cylindrical proprietary-engineered elastomer puffers which act as vibration de-couplers dissipating mechanical energy by orthogonal elongation.
Speakers Orientation The speakers should be tilted inward facing the listener.
Listening Distance Optimum speaker-listener distance is within 3.5 – 4.0m
Listening Layout A carpeted floor in front of the speakers is recommended.

Solitaire
A multi-channel stereophony center speaker is fed via a monophonic signal that reaches both the listener's ears. This simple process is useful for source Localization but during the performance of a High Definition Audio System it's necessary for the ear-brain mechanism to rely upon added information to make the virtual stage credible. In order to define a complete set of psychoacoustic quantities for quality assessment the listener has to be aware of another subjective quantity addressed to as Spatialization.

Chario has taken up the challenge. Solitaire is the answer.

Bearing upon a classical 2way/2speakers design is not possible to arrange things in order to control the whole "energy baloon". The reason is very simple: there are too few sources to take advantage from multiple-array theories.

But we can exploit the very small size of the cabinet as a true 4Π sr source to design a "smart" crossover capable of re-sizing the sound stage following your preferences...

Binaurale Hörfähigkeit in kleinen Räumen

Dies ist der Forschungsrahmen, welcher das Academy Sovran Projekt unterstützt, folgend der fortgeführten und weiter entwickelten psychoakustischen Studien, welche chario zu einem der führenden Hersteller von Hochleistungslautsprecher werden ließ. Erneut erlaubte uns eine marketingfreie und wissenschaftliche Annäherung an dieses Projekt, unsere prestigevolle Academy Serie zu erweitern und dem Audio Markt einen neuen Entwurf eines 3-WegeStandlautsprechers vorzustellen.

Die Academy Sovran bricht mit dem Gesetz oder der Richtlinie der Mono-Bass-Wahrnehmung in Wohnräumen. Die räumliche Wahrnehmung, welche durch die Academy Sovran erzielt wird, verringert im vernünftigen Maße den schädlich maskierenden Effekt von niederfrequenten Stehwellen.

Die tonalen Komponenten eines Stereosignals werden einfacher, mit einem wirklich verbesserten 3 D Effekt, erfasst.
